My Honest Opinion About Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

Hello, haven't posted for a while here. Been busy with work and other stuff.

And I've been looking forward to a lot of things this 2021, and one of these is the incoming games from The Pokémon Company.

Last February 26, TPC released a Pokémon Presents showcasing what to expect from them. And one of these is the highly anticipated remakes of the beloved Generation 4 games. This has been requested for a long time and upon presenting, there has been a lot of mixed reactions about it. Here's my honest opinion I took directly from a post I made in a group:

------------------------------

Honest Opinion About BD/SP:

TLDR: Pokémon is always experimenting and widening their horizons.

There's a lot of mix reactions about these remakes and I just want to share my honest opinion about it.

At first, I thought I was disappointed (like 15%) with the outcome as it's not what I expected it to be. But I realised... I'm not. I'm more of surprised as to what they presented.

And it got me into thinking, isn't that what TPCi always does? They always deliver something different, provide new and innovative (not in the grand scale of things but still something worth to look forward to) features and shakes the formula every new gen? We were surprised with B2/W2 instead of Grey. They offered Mega Evo, Z-moves and D-max/G-max. They introduce GO mechanic in a mainline game. These all caught us off guard.

And I think this is where the magic of our beloved franchise comes from: it's surprises and unpredictability. There may be some that would not suit our tastes, but it's a breath of fresh air.

Also, this is a nod to the classic Pokémon style that we cherished for so long. Some of us surely love that whiff of nostalgia tingling our senses. And it's good they will bring it back. Some fans are still not into the new SwSh style and prefer the sprite styles so there's that. You may say that "I can just play DPPt on DS if I want this style." Good point. But there are also people who want to bring old memories to a new platform.

And if you are thinking that they would totally abandon the SwSh engine, well that's where the premakes come in. I think this was all planned along. They really planned to expand the Pokémon world and delve more into the lore. The open-world aspect is on the way and SwSh is surely the precursor to that.

As for the technicalities, there are still issues that concern me that I hope they focus on (that Chingling frame rate really puts me off). And I believed they will listen as they still have time for it. Plus we don't have a lot of info on our hands yet so we don't know what's in it for us.

All I'm saying is experimenting is essential for any games or other things. It's what keeps the boat afloat and sailing. Heck, even Super Mario which is originally a jump and dash game innovated their gameplay. And we cannot stop them. If we think it's not the right time to innovate then when? If not now, then it will never be. Besides, Pokémon is always trying to cater to different audiences. You want a classic game style in a modern console? You want an open-world Pokémon game that is more story-focused? You want a casual Pokémon catching game? You all got it. I mean there's always something for someone. And if you don't like it, then someone out there surely does.

And the fact that we are getting 2 games instead of 1 is already a grace by Arceus.

Again this is my opinion and I respect yours. It's okay if you don't like it but please respect and don't berate people just because they like things.

Peace out Pokémon Trainers and Happy Pokémon Day!

P.S.

Fun Fact: Link's Awakening gets some flak because of the Chibi remastering but through time it starts to grow to people and I'm hoping this would also be the case for BD/SP
