25 Random Things I Learned Now that I'm 25

Today marks my 25th year in this world. The pinnacle of my first quarter life. And within those years, I can say there are a lot of things I've learned so far. So why not make a list?

Just a note that this isn't a comprehensive list of life lessons. This is a project I thought of when I was 18: to list down random stuff I learned on every milestone year (18, 25, 35, etc.) so that I encapsulate my past self, reflect and see how my perspective changed (or not) as I grow old. I'm just too tardy to take the initiative. But as they say, 'better late than never'.

So, without further ado, here's the list:

  1. It's 'stuff' not 'stuffs'.
  2. Drinking is fun. But getting drunk (and being wasted) is not. Well, there maybe few exceptions.
  3. I still don't get the hate on 'pizza on pineapple'.
  4. Mind your actions as sometimes, it may lead you to be a creep even if you don't mean to. I learn this the hard way.
  5. In the same vein, a colleague told me told me that "What you pursue eludes you." Focus on what you can improve to yourself and everything will follow suit.
  6. Your academic achievement won't be the measurement to success. Once you graduate and go out to the real world, everyone is on equal footing.
  7. It turns me off if a girl cannot identify the difference between "your" and "you're".
  8. I already have doubts about religion and a higher being since childhood. I dismissed it because of my religious upbringing. But now, I fully accept the fact that there is no higher being, I am an atheist.
  9. In line with the latter, I believe that you only have one shot at life (there is no heaven or hell or whatever place you think you'll go when you die). So experience what you have to experience.
  10. It's not good to starve yourself just so you could cut off some fat. Seek advise and check what suits you.
  11. It's not the fat (in food) that makes you fat. It's the sugar that makes you fat.
  12. I love reading books and recently I ventured on reading self-help books. It's really good if you want to have personal improvement.
  13. It's useless to argue with people who base their opinions on personal feelings and biases.
  14. Sometimes, your best opportunities lie on your worst fears. You just need to take a step, be brave and face that fear.
  15. Learn to say NO sometimes. You won't regret it.
  16. Living independently is fun and insightful, if I may say.
  17. 1 packet of Coffee + 3 packets of creamer + 1 packet of sugar + 1 cube of butter = Best Coffee Drink (Side note: Buy things on packets to perfectly measure things!)
  18. The rice cooker is a kitchen masterpiece. It can do more cooking wonders than just cooking rice.
  19. Never limit yourself as to what you can be.
  20. Respect other people's music taste. If they don't respect yours, beat them up! (Just kidding!)
  21. Sometimes it's better to listen than to give advise. It's good to let someone know they have someone they can rely on and lend an ear to them.
  22. It's ok to buy things you really want if you have the money. You've worked for it. Don't think it will be a waste.
  23. Never rush yourself into a relationship. Explore and care for yourself. Who knows, maybe it will come unexpectedly.
  24. 2020 is a f*cked up year that we want to pass immediately.
  25. I know that as I grow old, some of my perspective will change. I will list it again in the near future.
